"The interior and some of the exterior scenes were designed and built as sets for sound stages in Los Angeles. The sets were designed in keeping with the flavor of the original film. The director was one who made a habit of conversing with the Art Department, discussing design concepts and ideas for the background scenery. As a result, the implementation of the scenery went smoothly and creatively."
